Destaney and Sam’s wedding at Sacred Sands in Joshua Tree was the kind of day that feels like a dream from start to finish. Set against a backdrop of open skies, golden desert light, and the otherworldly landscape of Joshua Tree, their celebration was intimate, intentional, and beautifully personal. We had the honor of capturing every moment in both photo and video, and this one left us inspired.
Sacred Sands sits just outside Joshua Tree National Park and offers one of the most stunning ceremony settings in Southern California. With sweeping desert views, earthy architecture, and the kind of natural light photographers love, it was the perfect place for Destaney and Sam to say “I do.”
The day was calm and relaxed, with Destaney and Sam getting ready on site. The desert breeze, soft sunlight, and minimal design of the space allowed us to focus completely on the connection between them and the people closest to them. Every detail felt intentional. From the earthy florals to the handcrafted decor, nothing was overdone. It all felt authentic and true to who they are.
The ceremony took place just before golden hour with the sun beginning to dip behind the rocks and cast a warm glow across the valley. As they exchanged vows with the vast desert landscape behind them, it felt like time slowed down. It was quiet, sacred, and completely centered on the two of them.
After the ceremony, we explored the desert around the venue for portraits. The colors, the light, the silence, everything came together perfectly. Destaney and Sam moved effortlessly through the space, just soaking in the moment and each other. These are the kinds of sessions we love most, when nothing feels forced and everything just flows.
The evening continued with a cozy reception under the stars. Surrounded by close friends and family, they shared stories, laughter, and a beautifully slow, intentional celebration. No loud distractions, no rushed timeline, just love, community, and the open desert sky.
